About MVP

Manny Velásquez-Paredes (MVP) is an experienced professional in the fields of customer relations, career counselor, events planning, marketing and communications. He is a dynamic, bicultural and trilingual (English, Spanish & French), management, marketing and communications creative. MVP is a strategic, ethical and value-driven leader, proven in the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies in multifunctional roles within various industries; resulting in new opportunities across multiple markets, high growth rates and improved financial metrics, with a focus on multicultural marketing and management.



As part of the Marketing team for Lincoln Center, the world of premier arts organization, MVP served as the main television and radio spokesperson for the Latino/Hispanic market. Being a visionary and firm believer on diversity, he created a multilingual/multicultural outreach program, including in-person, online and phone services, to increase brand awareness and services. He developed a cross-departmental customer service training manual and seminar for over 2,000 employees at Lincoln Center, which resulted in decreased complaints and increased the quality of service and productivity.

Soon after joining NSHMBA in 2006, he was appointed as the Vice President of Marketing, where he introduced many different ways to expand the organization and market the events, including social media. MVP has also held the position of Executive Vice President for the chapter and is extremely proud of his work with NSHMBA because it allows him the opportunity to create projects that make a difference for the youth and community as a whole. In his position as President, MVP created, led, and produced educational/networking discussions and seminars on topics including: Diversity, Social Media, Education, Arts, Entertainment, and Finances, resulting in increased brand awareness of corporations and developing leadership skills within minority groups. He developed traditional and social media marketing strategies to increase NSHMBA’s brand and membership, which resulted in a “Latinos in Social Media” nomination in 2009 in the category of non-profits.


MVP was a member of the MBA Advisory Board for Monroe College from 2010-2012, which helped to shape the MBA program, as well as the Riverhead HeadStart Chairperson in 2011 & 2012 quadrupling funds from the previous years. MVP was elected by New York State Assemblyman Marc Alessi as a Committee Member for the Town of Brookhaven in Long Island, NY in 2012. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, appointed MVP to the Suffolk County Hispanic Advisory Board in January 2013, and he is part of the Executive Board Cabinet, seeking to assist the Latino community in NY by shaping and introducing policies.



MVP currently works as a Labor Service Representative for the New York State Department of Labor. In this role, he guides and educates customers on labor market needs through workshops and one-on-one conferences, in an effort to assist the unemployed reenter the workforce. MVP has created a workshop, which he teaches, titled “Online Social Networking,” which educates people how to creatively seek career opportunities through the use of different social media outlets. In addition, he created 2 different seminars on how to use LinkedIn to increase a person’s net-worth. He counsels the unemployed community on career paths, resume improvement, interviewing skills, transferable skills, networking skills, among many other career development topics, in an effort to diminish the unemployment rates.
